Turn order online | decide a fair order at random
“How do we decide the presentation order?” “Whose turn is it to host?” Rock-paper-scissors drags on, and drawing lots can feel unfair. Here's an online turn-order picker that decides a fair, random order on the spot — just by entering names.

When you need to decide an order
Presentation, speech, and lightning-talk order; a rotating host or chore duty; game and match turns; the sequence for interviews or pitches — the more it matters that “nobody decided it by hand,” the more a random order helps.
Even with remote members, everyone sees the same screen and shares the result at once. Watching the order fall out along the ladder lines makes for a nice little bit of fun, too.
How to use the online turn-order picker
1. Enter the participants' names. Blanks are auto-numbered, so you can just set the headcount and draw right away.
2. Press “Decide the order” and the ladder-lottery lines are drawn fairly at random, pairing each name one-to-one with a spot (1st, 2nd…).
3. The result appears on screen. You can copy it or share on X and LINE, and redrawing is a single tap.
Why random can still mean fair
The order is decided with the same deterministic randomness as an amidakuji ladder lottery. There's no room to skew how the lines are drawn, and no one knows who gets which spot until you draw.
Everyone sees the result on the same screen at the same time, so there's no “reordering it afterward.” Because no human sets it by hand, people rarely complain about the order.
How it differs from rock-paper-scissors or paper lots
With big groups, rock-paper-scissors takes forever, and repeated ties kill the tempo. Paper lots take prep and tallying, and can't be used remotely.
Online, prep is just entering names. Any number of people gets an order in an instant, and the result appears on everyone's screen at once. Redoing it is effortless.
